Houses with gardens in Hampshire are worth on average £68k than homes without one, according to Admiral Home Insurance . The county also has the fourth greatest nominal increase in the whole of the UK.

The company compared the value of over 54, 000 live property listings of the same size with and without a garden to see how much value a garden can add to homes across the country. Admiral says that garden popularity rose during the pandemic with nearly a third of Brits saying that a garden is now more important to them than before March 2020.

Researchers found that homes with landscapes in England cost +9. 6% more on average than the same-sized properties without gardens. Top of the list is Greater London the average home with a garden valued on average at £1. 2m which is £95, 500 more than a house without a backyard at £1, 144, 000.

In terms of properties that increased in value, Hampshire came fourth on the list along with £68k added to the sale price with the average garden home price rising from £417, 022 to £485, 098.

If you’re looking to boost your home’s value, properties in Britain with hot tubs in the garden are valued on average nearly £78, 000 higher than the average home (+17%). Houses with outdoor gyms came in second, valued at an average of £65, 500 more than the average home (+14. 2%).
