A mansion dubbed one of the most prestigious houses in Cheshire has been placed on the market by its owners, former Real Housewives of Cheshire star Dawn Ward and ex-footballer husband Ashley. The five-bed Alderley Edge property is on the market for a whopping £7 million.
The pair upped sticks and moved to Dubai last year, a move Dawn now says is ‘permanent. ‘ Dawn came to prominence during her seven-year stint on ITVBe’s hit Real Housewives of Cheshire alongside Tanya Bardsley and Lauren Simon, plus surprised fans with the girl departure.
Despite the move, the Wards kept their sprawling manor house, Warford Hall, and have been back and forth over the last couple of years to the house where they lived with their four daughters. But now the reality star turned interior designer has decided to put her prestigious period pad back on the market.
The mansion will be familiar to fans of the Real Housewives show, as many of the dramatic scenes were filmed there over the years. The property, built 1867, was in a sorry state when it was first purchased by the former Derby striker and his wife, but it is now complete with some of the most opulent features money can buy.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News , Dawn said: “We’ve lived in Cheshire for 20 years and we’ve had amazing memories there. It’s a great house for parties, it’s a great house for family.
“It’s in a great location and really private, people don’t always realise that Great Warford is just three minutes drive to Alderley Edge, five minutes in order to Wilmslow or Knutsford.
“It’s really private, yet really well located. We initially rented it out because we always thought we’d come back, but we’ve decided this is a permanent move for us now, we love it in Dubai. ”
This is not the first time the house has been on the market during Daybreak and Ashley’s ownership. The particular couple put the house up for sale in 2013, and it remained on the market for five years without sale.
Dawn lodged plans to convert the estate into a wedding venue in 2017, but these plans were soon dashed after government planning chiefs sided with almost 200 objections from neighbours. She went on to secure planning permission for a spa retreat on the site, but never went ahead wih the proposals.
Dawn said: “We are selling it at a competitive price now, because there’s nothing else on the market at that kind of figure for that kind of home in that position. Before when we have put it on the market, all of us weren’t that bothered about selling it really, but this time it’s priced to sell.
“It’s got it’s own drive, it’s private, and it’s a genuine hall. You can never build another like it and that’s what’s unique about it. ”
The couple can sell the stunning 11, 000 square foot Grade II listed country house for £7 million, with further accomodation and additional land on the 12. 5 acre site available to buy outside of this price tag. The house is surrounded by 7. 5 acres of parkland and gardens.
Dawn says: “I just hope it goes to someone nice, we have had the most amazing memories there, it’s hosted our Creme de la Creme charity ball, big parties, christenings, it’s been a wonderful family. Even though it’s so big it’s still very homely. ”
The house is spread over four floors. The ground floor is centered around a huge galleried reception hall with a grand, sweeping staircase which leads into each of the reception rooms.
Four large entertaining rooms come off the hall, including the drawing room, a grand dining room, a living room and a sun room, as well as an impressive kitchen with a central island.
On the lower ground floor is located a bar and games room, a prime location to host parties, as well as a cinema and laundry room. The incredible master bedroom suite spans the majority of the first floor with two dressing areas, both with their own en-suite bathrooms, a luggage space and two further bedrooms each with their own personal bathrooms and one with a dressing room.
Up on the second floor is the fifth and final bedroom which again comes with its own en-suite and walk-in wardrobe. Outside, the grounds boast around 7 acres associated with beautiful landscaped gardens, paddocks and a long gated driveway as well as an outdoor swimming pool plus jacuzzi.
Additional planning permission has been granted to enhance the outdoor pool area into a covered leisure facility and cgis have been created to reflect this. Daybreak adds: “It’s got so much potential because of the size of the house, the planning on it is endless. I don’t think there’s another house like it in Cheshire, it’s quite unique. ”
